LOS ANGELES:stardelivered a virtual commencement speech to the class of 2020 from his, Kitsilano Secondary School in Vancouver, and gifted every student a pizza from his favourite local pizza place, as the novelprevented graduating students from donning their cap.
The Vancouver-born actor, who graduated from the West Side secondary school in 1994, uploaded an inspiring speech on YouTube over the weekend for the class of 2020.
“If I can pass on this one little chestnut of wisdom, it’s something that you might want to start if you’re not already doing it. Totally up to you, no pressure but one thing that’s worked for me is practicing some form of compassion every day whether it’s for yourself or someone, especially for someone else, is good,” Reynolds said in the video.
The actor encouraged students to be empathetic.
‘Some of you may consider me successful. I don’t know, some of you may have seen ‘Green Lantern’. But I’ll tell you this — empathy has gotten me so much farther in not only in my life but in my career… To my surprise, (empathy) has made me money, friends, priceless memories.
“It’s allowed me to fully accept and provide love. It’s helped me recognise the mistakes I’ve made and learn from them. And above all, it made me happy. And it’s something I’ll probably be working on my whole life,’ he added.
The video ended with congratulatory message for the graduating class, as Reynolds announced that ‘every grad gets one large pizza on me” from his favourite local pizza shop, Nat’s Pizzeria.
‘Deadpool’, ‘Thor’ And All The Other Movies In Which Stan Lee Rocked His Cameos
Lights, Cameo, Action…
Marvel legend Stan Lee passes away at 95.
The mastermind of Marvel’s superhero universe, who was last seen in Tom Hardy-starrer ‘Venom’, has left behind a legacy that will be cherished by future generations. Loved by everyone, Lee never failed to feature in the superhero movies.
Here’s a look at his best cameos:
‘Deadpool’
In 2016, Stan Lee appeared as the DJ in a strip club which totally went well with the theme of the quirky ‘Deadpool’. In the sequel, he made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in a wall mural. He didn’t appear in the movie in person.
‘Black Panther’
In ‘Black Panther’, Stan Lee showed up in the cameo where T’Challa and Everett Ross – played by Chadwick Boseman and Martin Freeman, respectively – are seen gambling in a casino.
‘The Avengers’
Stan Lee played a chess player in the first ‘Avengers’ movie who was being interviewed about superheros in New York. In the sequel, he asked Captain America to get the waitress’ number at a restaurant. His role in part three was hilarious as he portrayed a drunk military vet who was being carried away by security at a victory party after being high on Asgardian liquor.
‘Thor’
‘Thor’ has had three parts so far, and Stan Lee has appeared in all of them. Once as a barber on the planet Sakaar, the second as a man trying to uproot Thor’s hammer using a truck, and at mental ward in the third part after his brain gets scrambled in ‘The Avengers’ by the Mind Stone.
